RTP here is the figure the studio publishes. Some studios let the casino choose one of several settings, and in some games the bet you pick or the moment you cash out moves the return; each game guide says which applies.

What a crash game is

A crash game is a bet on how long a number keeps rising. You stake before the round, a multiplier climbs, and at a point you cannot see coming the round ends: the plane flies away, the rocket bursts, the taxi crashes. Cash out first and your stake comes back multiplied by the figure on screen; still in at the end, and it is lost. Besides the size of the stake, the decision that matters is when to leave.

That end point is not chosen while you watch: Pragmatic Play's help calls it "a random predetermined multiplier value". Many of these games are multiplayer, and the cash-outs scrolling past are other players' guesses, not signals. Split The Pot's rules are explicit about it: how many people join, and what each one stakes or aims for, has no effect on the result.

Why Plinko, Mines and Balloon sit in this section

Not everything here crashes. The section name is our grouping of fast games where a multiplier decides the win, not a rule they share. In Plinko and PlinkoX a ball drops through pegs into a multiplier slot, with nothing to cash out. In Mines you pick how many mines hide in the grid, and each diamond lifts the multiplier until you cash out or hit a mine. SmartSoft's Balloon is, in our reading of its help, a round of your own: you hold a button, the amount on the balloon grows from your stake, and letting go before it pops collects it.

What sets the return: the studio, your target or the casino

Every return figure published for these games is below 100%: over a long run, each of those games pays back less than it takes in. What differs is what fixes the number. Most studios publish one figure for the whole game; Pragmatic adds that High Flyer's optimal 97% is reached by cashing out at whole numbers, because wins are rounded down to two decimals.

In JetX, CricketX and HelicopterX the player's choice moves it: SmartSoft's help gives each a range topping out at 98.9% and ties that top to the lowest cash-out multiplier. Our game pages write such ranges as "depending on when you cash out".

Elsewhere the casino decides: Split The Pot offers casinos a "Customizable RTP", which covers Taxi Ride and Comet Crash. Volatility: what the studios rate, and what you set 📊

Few studios rate a crash game's volatility: BetGames calls Skyward very high, the Aviatrix studio calls its game medium-high, and SkyPilot's game information says "Player-dependent". Most of the rest publish no rating at all.

Much of the swing is yours to set anyway. Turbo Games sums up its own crash line: "Cash out low and you win small and often; aim high and you win rarely and big", at the same expected value. PlinkoX puts the swing on a Low, Medium or High switch, and in Mines the number of mines sets it.
