Skyward Storm in South Africa: Four Bets, Lightning Events and Safe Altitude
Skyward Storm is the third crash game in BetGames' Skyward series, announced in September 2026. The plane and the rising multiplier are the same as in the original; around them come up to four bets, a 50% cash-out, random Lightning events that boost or halve the multiplier, and Safe Altitude payouts at thresholds such as x5, x10 and x100. BetGames publishes a 97% RTP, calls the game high-volatility and puts the maximum multiplier at 100,000x.

How a Skyward Storm round works
Bets go in before take-off, in the single betting round of each draw; a bet placed later is carried over to the next round. The multiplier starts at 1.00 and climbs during the flight, and a bet pays only if it is cashed out before the plane flies away. The lowest multiplier at which a cash-out counts is 1.01, and the payout is the multiplier at cash-out times the original stake. BetGames' rules put the top of the climb at 100,000x.
A toggle above the bet panels switches between Dual Play, with two panels, and Quad Play, with four. Rule 2.9 calls the windows identical in function and independent of each other: each has its own stake, its own Auto play and its own Auto cash out.
Three ways to cash out 💳
- Cash out 100%. Collects the whole bet at the current multiplier and stays available until the plane flies away.
- Cash out 50%. Collects half at the current multiplier and leaves the other half of the bet in the air. It works once per round; after that only Cash out 100% remains for the rest. By our arithmetic, a R10 bet split at 3.00x banks R15 and keeps R5 riding.
- Auto cash out. A slider and a target multiplier: if the flight reaches it, the whole bet is cashed out there. It applies to the full cash-out only. If the plane flies away exactly at the target, rule 4.3 counts the bet as lost, and pressing Cash out earlier overrides it.
Lightning: Boost and Strike
At random moments a Lightning event hits the plane. A Boost multiplies the current multiplier by 2, 3, 5 or 10; a Strike halves it. A round can carry up to three events, Boosts and Strikes in any mix, at any stage of the flight. A Strike can only come once the multiplier has reached x2, so, as the rules put it, the multiplier never falls below x1.00 and cash-out stays open.
In practice, by our arithmetic: a flight at 4.00x hit by a x3 Boost jumps to 12.00x, and one at 6.40x hit by a Strike drops to 3.20x. BetGames does not say how often events come.
Safe Altitude: what a flight pays when it ends
Once the plane has passed a threshold, a bet still riding in full is paid even if the plane then flies away. BetGames' How to play gives these thresholds as its example. A bet cashed out in full before a threshold, or one that used Cash out 50%, gets no Safe Altitude payout: on a R10 bet, our sum, a split at 3.00x banks R15, while a full R10 still riding past x10 is owed R20 even if the plane flies away straight after. A free bet pays one stake less.
| Plane has reached | Paid if it flies away | Same, on a free bet |
|---|---|---|
| x5 | Your stake back (1x) | Nothing |
| x10 | 2x your stake | 1x your stake |
| x100 | 10x your stake | 9x your stake |
Jackpot, Sky Drops and the social features
- Progressive jackpot. It grows as players bet and has no maximum. A random number generator decides whether it drops in a round, and when it does, every player with an active real-money bet in that round gets an equal share, win or lose. The rules say it is funded from the operator's revenue from the game and does not reduce the 97% RTP.
- Sky Drops. Free bets on a banner at random moments, a limited number, one per player. A free bet pays winnings only, never its stake.
- Leaderboards, Winboard and Live Chat. Leaderboard campaigns turn cashed-out multipliers from real-money bets into points; the Winboard lists the biggest wins and multipliers. The rules tie Leaderboards and Live Chat to eligible operators, so a casino may not run them.
Fairness: what the rules say
Skyward Storm's How to play says each round's multiplier is produced by a Provably Fair algorithm, with Provably Fair settings in the Settings menu and a shield icon next to each result in Bet history to verify a round. Rule 6.2 adds that the multiplier comes from certified random number generation, fair and unpredictable. This is a change from the original Skyward, whose rules mention only a certified RNG.
A verified round tells you it was fair; it does not forecast the next one. Lightning events and jackpot drops are random too, and no staking pattern, signal channel or app beats the house edge.
Limits, malfunctions and complaints
- The operator's maximum win. The casino sets the minimum bet, the maximum bet and the maximum win. Once a multiplier would pay that maximum or more, the bet is paid the maximum automatically, with an icon in the bet results, so a cap can end a bet long before 100,000x.
- Malfunctions and complaints. Rule 5.1 voids a round hit by a malfunction, with every bet on it, and refunds the stakes. Claims about a draw go to the operator within 30 days, or longer where its law requires.
Skyward Storm RTP and volatility 📊
BetGames gives Skyward Storm's return to player as 97%.
BetGames rates the volatility as high, but in Skyward Storm you set most of it yourself with the cash-out target: a low one lands often and pays little, a high one rarely lands and pays a lot. BetGames publishes one RTP for the game, not one per target.
Top payout: 100000x.

Pros, cons and verdict ⚖️
- Up to four independent bets, each with its own Auto play and Auto cash out
- Safe Altitude pays a full bet still riding past set thresholds (x5, x10, x100 in BetGames' example)
- A 50% cash-out in place of all or nothing, once per round
- A published 97% RTP; the jackpot is funded outside it, by the rules
- High volatility, by BetGames' own description
- A Strike can halve a multiplier you were waiting on
- Using Cash out 50% gives up the Safe Altitude payout
- The operator's maximum win can end a bet long before 100,000x
Skyward Storm keeps the plain flight of the original Skyward and adds the most BetGames has put into the series: four bets, a partial cash-out, Lightning events and a Safe Altitude floor, which rewards a full bet left in the air and excludes a split one. The swings are real: the game is high-volatility by BetGames' own words, and the casino's win cap applies. Check Game limits before the first round.
Skyward Storm FAQ ❓
How many bets can I place in one Skyward Storm round?
Up to four. A toggle switches between Dual Play, with two bet panels, and Quad Play, with four. Each panel works independently, with its own stake, Auto play and Auto cash out, and bets go in before take-off; a bet placed during a flight waits for the next round.
What does Safe Altitude pay?
In BetGames' example, a bet still fully in play gets its stake back if the plane flies away after x5, twice the stake after x10 and ten times after x100. A bet cashed out in full earlier, or one that used Cash out 50%, gets no Safe Altitude payout. On a free bet each level pays one stake less.
Can a Lightning Strike make me lose my bet?
A Strike halves the multiplier, and only once it has reached x2, so the rules say it never drops below x1.00 and cash-out stays available. The bet is lost only if the plane flies away before you cash out.
Is Skyward Storm provably fair?
Its How to play says so: each round's multiplier comes from a Provably Fair algorithm, with settings in the Settings menu and a shield icon in Bet history to verify a round. Rule 6.2 also names certified random number generation. A verified past round says nothing about the next.
How is Skyward Storm different from Skyward?
BetGames calls it the third instalment of the series. Skyward allows two bets and a full cash-out; Skyward Storm allows four bets and adds Cash out 50%, Lightning Boost and Strike, Safe Altitude, a progressive jackpot, Sky Drops and Live Chat. Both publish 97% and a 100,000x top multiplier.
