Betting Apps in South Africa: iPhone, Android and the Mobile Site

Most South African bookmakers let you bet from a phone, but not all of them offer an app, and the route to one differs between iPhone and Android. This page shows which bookmakers we review have an app, what their App Store listings say, where each operator's own site points Android users, and how to install from the right place.

App or mobile site 📱

The bookmakers on this page also run websites you open in a phone's browser, so an app is a convenience, not a requirement. An app can keep you signed in, sits on the home screen and can send notifications; the mobile site needs nothing installed and is always the current version. The account, the balance and the bet slip are the same whichever you use.

An app gives a bet no better chance than the site does.

Which bookmakers have an app

The cells come from the same fields as each brand's review and change with it. "Yes" under App means the bookmaker offers one in the App Store or on its own site, for iPhone, Android or both; the tables below say which, where we could read it. Data-free shows only where the operator itself uses the word. A dash means we have nothing on record.

What each bookmaker's App Store listing says

As listed on the South African App Store on 13 October 2026, read from Apple's own listing data. Only apps whose listing links to the bookmaker's own website are included, in alphabetical order. The publisher is written as Apple shows it. Size is Apple's file size in megabytes (a million bytes), rounded to one decimal; the download your phone shows can differ. Each brand name opens our page on that app.

How to read an App Store listing

Before you tap Get, look at three lines of the listing. The publisher is the company that put the app in the store; compare it with the company named in the bookmaker's licence and its site's footer. The two are not always worded the same, and a group can publish through a sister company, but a name that has nothing to do with the brand is a reason to stop. Our guide to checking a bookmaker's licence shows where to find the licence holder.

For every app in the table, the listing's website or privacy link leads to the bookmaker's own domain. The date of the last update tells you whether the app is still looked after, and the minimum iOS version tells you whether an older iPhone can run it at all. If it cannot, the mobile site is the way in.

Where bookmakers point Android users

What each bookmaker's own site offered for Android when we read it on 13 October 2026, in alphabetical order. A bookmaker whose site showed no Android download that day, or did not open from our network, is not in this table; its review and app page carry what we have.

BookmakerWhat its own site offers
BetXchange An app file (APK) linked as "Download our app" in the site footer, hosted on betxchangeadmin.co.za, next to its App Store link
Betway SA An app file (APK) from its app page, which also points Huawei users to AppGallery
Supabets A "Direct APK download"; its AppGallery entry is marked "Coming Soon"
SuperSportBet An app file (APK) on files.supersportbet.com, plus App Store and AppGallery links
Tic Tac Bets An app file linked from its Android page, which asks you to tap "Download App"; the link leads to a GitHub repository named Tictacbets
YesPlay "YesPlay App for Android" in the site footer, a file on app.yesplay.bet, plus an AppGallery link

What an APK is and how to install one with care

An APK is the installation file of an Android app. Several South African bookmakers offer theirs as a download on their own site rather than through a store, and their install pages tell you to allow installs from unknown sources before you open the file. Google's own Android help recommends getting apps from Google Play and warns that "if you download apps from unknown sources, your device and personal information can be at risk", so the source of the file is the whole question.

Type the bookmaker's address yourself, or use the link in its review, and start the download from its app page or footer. Never install a file forwarded in a chat or offered by a site that is not the bookmaker's. A copy from anywhere else could look identical and still capture your login, and the account behind it holds your balance and your verified bank details. Once the app is installed, you can switch the permission for that browser or file manager off again.

Installing on an iPhone

On an iPhone, take the app from the App Store only, and open the listing from the bookmaker's own site where you can. Search results inside the store can show apps with similar names from other publishers, so check the publisher line against the table above before you install.

Where a bookmaker has no app for your phone, its mobile site in Safari does the same job.

Data use on an app or the site

An app has to be downloaded and updated, which costs data, and the size in the App Store table gives an idea of how much. After that, what you spend depends on what you open: live streams and casino games use more than a bet slip. Some bookmakers say their site or app is data-free, and the overview table above shows those in the operators' own words. Read the operator's own terms to see what such an offer covers.

Where the figures come from

The App Store details are Apple's listing data for South Africa on the date in the table and change with each update. The Android table describes what each operator's own site showed that day, read on these pages: betxchange.com (footer), betway.co.za/betway-app, new.supabets.co.za/download-app, supersportbet.com/en-za/l/mobile-app, tictacbets.co.za/page/android_app and yesplay.bet (footer); we did not install the files. The tables follow the alphabet, not our ranking, and having an app does not move a bookmaker up in it. For deposits and payouts, see low minimum deposit betting sites and betting withdrawal times.

A betting app on your phone

An app puts betting one tap away, which makes limits more important, not less. Set a deposit limit in the bookmaker's account settings, keep notifications off if they pull you back in, and bet only what you can afford to lose. Only adults 18 and over may bet. Betting app FAQ

Which South African bookmakers have an app?

The overview table marks every bookmaker we review that offers one, and the two tables under it show which have an App Store listing and which offer an Android file on their own site. A bookmaker without an app still runs a mobile site that works in your phone's browser.

Why do I have to download some Android apps from the bookmaker's site?

Several bookmakers publish their Android app as a file on their own site instead of in a store. Their install pages walk you through it, including the step where you allow installs from unknown sources. Download it only from the bookmaker's own app page or footer.

Is a betting app safer than the mobile site?

Neither is safer by itself. What matters is where the app came from and who runs the account. An app from the App Store or the operator's own site, published by the company behind the brand, opens the same account as its mobile site; a copied file could be anything.

How can I tell an app is really the bookmaker's?

Open it from the bookmaker's own website, then compare the publisher on the App Store listing with the licence holder named in the site's footer and in our review. The listing's website and privacy links should lead to the bookmaker's own domain.

Does a betting app give better odds?

An app is another way into the same account. The markets, the odds and your chance of winning a bet are set by the bookmaker, not by the screen you use, and any app-only promotion is in the bookmaker's own terms.
