Taxi Ride in South Africa: Split The Pot's Crash Game with Two Bets and Auto Escape
Taxi Ride is a crash game from Split The Pot, a studio based in Stockholm and Johannesburg. A minibus taxi drives off, a multiplier climbs, and a bet pays only if you jump out before the taxi crashes. Every player rides the same round, with up to two bets each. The Help screen of the studio's demo gives an RTP of 97%, a figure the studio lets casinos tailor, and says the multiplier can possibly reach 1,000,000x. How a Taxi Ride round works
Taxi Ride dresses the crash format as a city commute. Between rides a countdown shows how many seconds are left and how many players have joined the next one. Then a white minibus taxi drives off and the multiplier climbs for as long as it keeps going. Cashing out means jumping out: the studio's onboarding tells you to predict when the taxi will crash and eject yourself before it does. The game's crash art is a striped road barrier, left in pieces under a cloud of smoke, and every bet still on board when the ride ends is lost.
Split The Pot's Help screen says all players bet on the same round and get the same result, and that the number of players, their targets and their stakes do not affect the outcome.
There are two ways out. Press Escape during the ride and you cash out at the multiplier of that moment, stake times multiplier. Set a target in the Auto escape field instead, and a winning bet is paid at your target, not at the multiplier the taxi finally reached.
The studio's example: one ride, four targets

Two bets, Auto escape and Auto
- Two separate bets. The Help screen allows up to two bets per round, handled separately, each placed with its own Play button. Both panels carry a stake with quick-stake buttons, an Auto escape field with an on-off switch and an Auto switch.
- Auto escape. Type a multiplier and switch it on, and the bet leaves the taxi there without a tap. A ride that ends even 0.01 below your target loses the stake.
- Auto. Switch Auto on and press Play, and by the Help screen you "automatically join every game round" until you choose Stop Auto. Decide on a time and money limit before you switch it on.
- What two bets cannot do. Pairing a low target with a long shot changes how your results swing, not the RTP in the Help footer: no staking pattern or system beats the house edge.
1,000,000x and the maximum payout
Split The Pot's figure for the top of the range is 1,000,000x: the Help screen says the multiplier can "possibly reach x1.000.000 times the money".
The footer of the same Help screen lists a minimum bet, a maximum payout and the RTP: 1.00 euro, 1,000,000.00 euros and 97% in the studio's euro demo. Split The Pot offers its games to casinos as customisable, down to "tailored payout percentages", so the footer where you play is the one that counts.
Our arithmetic on the demo's figures: 1,000,000 euros is 1,000,000 times a 1-euro stake but only 40,000 times a 25-euro stake. The bigger the stake, the lower the multiplier at which a payout reaches that maximum.
Who makes Taxi Ride
Split The Pot's site lists two companies: Split The Pot AB in Stockholm and Split The Pot (Pty) Ltd in Gauteng. It describes its catalogue as cash-out games engineered for budget smartphones and slower or more expensive mobile connections, built to be lightweight and to conserve data.
Peru's gambling regulator, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR), lists Split The Pot AB as a registered supplier, PSV0093, and Taxi Ride version 1.1 as a registered game program, PJ0003846, with Gaming Associates Europe named as the lab. The studio's compliance page lists the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator, the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board and the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications under "Licensed by", with a manufacturing licence in Gauteng, and gives no licence numbers for them.
If your connection drops mid-ride
By the Malfunction rule on the Help screen, if the game loses your connection, it will attempt a cash-out worth your stake times the multiplier reached before the disconnection. If the taxi had already crashed before the server detected that you were gone, the stake is lost.
Note the rule's own word: the cash-out "will be attempted". Where a translation of the rules differs, the English text applies.
