How a multibet's payout is worked out
A multibet, or accumulator, joins several selections in one bet, and their odds multiply. Two selections at 1.50 and 2.00 make combined odds of 3.00, and a third at 1.80 takes them to 5.40.
The return is the stake times the combined odds, and it includes the stake: R10 at 5.40 returns R54, a profit of R44. Every selection has to win; if one loses, the whole bet is lost.
Longer multibets pay more because every added selection has to win too. Odds of 5.40 imply a chance of about 18.5%, a figure that includes the bookmaker's margin; our odds converter shows the implied chance of any price.
What the calculator leaves to the bookmaker
Each bookmaker's own rules decide what happens when a selection is void, for example a match that is not played, and how much one bet can pay. The cap differs from bookmaker to bookmaker: YesPlay's Payout Limits page gives R2,000,000 for sport events, pre-match and live, and ZARbet's Bet Limits page a maximum net payout of R10,000,000 per sports bet, which it says may vary by sport, league and bet type.

How do I work out a multibet?
Turn each selection's odds into decimal odds, multiply them together, then multiply by your stake. That is the return if every selection wins; take the stake away for the profit.
What happens if one selection loses?
The whole multibet is lost: every selection has to win.
What if a match is postponed?
Each bookmaker's rules say when a postponed match counts as void and what then happens to the multibet. Read them before you bet; the calculator does not guess.
