Balloon in South Africa: SmartSoft's Press-and-Hold Game, Its RTP Range and Limits
Balloon is SmartSoft Gaming's press-and-hold game from the JetX studio, launched in 2019 by SmartSoft's own account. You pick a stake and hold the button: a balloon inflates, and the amount written on it climbs from your stake. Let go before it pops to collect that amount. The help in SmartSoft's demo, version v2.2.0, gives an RTP of 95.5% to 98.0% and caps the win in money, while SmartSoft's tile for the game shows 25000 X.

How a Balloon round works
Balloon comes from SmartSoft Gaming, which also makes JetX. The game's own page files it under Crash Games and calls it "a crash-style instant-win game": "As the balloon inflates, the multiplier increases, challenging players to cash out before it pops." SmartSoft's games list puts the same title under Instant Games, and its news of February 2025 dates the launch to 2019.
The help's first two pages describe the round. Choose a stake, then "click and hold the bet button to inflate the Balloon", and "Remove the mouse pointer/finger just before the balloon pops to WIN!" What you collect is "the current value of the balloon when you decide to collect", and the game "always begins with the balloon's starting amount, which matches your initial bet".
So the number on the balloon is an amount of money, not a multiplier: in SmartSoft's demo, which counts in DMO play credits, it reads 0.10 DMO before a round, the stake selected when the demo opens. The help starts the round with your press and describes no betting window or other players' bets; in our reading, each round is your own.
Stake steps and the promotions around the game 🎁
- Stakes in steps. The stake is chosen from a row of set amounts with an arrow at each end, not typed in. In SmartSoft's demo the row runs from 0.10 to 100.00 DMO, the help's minimum and maximum bet, through steps such as 0.50, 1.00, 5.00 and 10.00. The bet button itself is a large round one with a hand on it.
- Promotions. SmartSoft's page for Balloon lists four engagement tools: Coin Flip, Missions Promotion, Prize Drop Promotion and Leaderboard. Its engagement-tools page presents them as promotions the casino runs: "casino operators can tailor the promotion" (Coin Flip), and "operators can drive sustained engagement" (Missions Promotion). Whether any of them runs in Balloon is the casino's choice.
95.5% to 98.0%: the return, and what the help leaves open
In SmartSoft's demo the help's last page gives the lowest and highest stake and the maximum win, then "RTP 95.5 - 98.0 %. Game Version v2.2.0". It does not say what decides where the return falls within that range: nothing about the stake, the moment you let go or a casino setting.
Put into rand, as an example: for every R1,000 put through the game over a long run, somewhere between about R955 and R980 comes back (our arithmetic). Neither end gets back to the full R1,000.
The version matters too. SmartSoft's help also has a text for version v2.2.1, which the demo does not show: it reads "RTP 95.4% - 98.9%" and adds "Max coefficient is 25000X". The help prints its version on its last page: go by the figure in your casino's help.
25000 X or 10000 X, and a cap in money
SmartSoft's own images disagree. The tile on the game's page shows 25000 X above the logo, while the page's preview image shows 10000 X. SmartSoft's help text for version v2.2.1 sides with the tile. These are SmartSoft's figures, not a promise that any balloon gets there.
The help that SmartSoft's demo shows, version v2.2.0, names no multiplier at all. It caps the balloon in money: its value "starts with your bet and goes up to 10000DMO", and "The maximum win in the game is 10000 DMO". The help gives that one figure whatever the stake, so in our reading a bigger stake leaves the balloon less room to grow. Against that cap, 25000X fits at the lowest stake, 0.10 x 25,000 = 2,500 DMO, but not at the next step, 0.50 x 25,000 = 12,500 DMO (our arithmetic). Your casino's help gives its own limits in rand.
Dropped connections and malfunctions
Every page of the help repeats the same two rules.
- A dropped connection mid-round. Your bet is "automatically cashed out if the current game round results in a 1% or higher increase from your initial bet, provided that no balloon has popped". On a R10 stake, as an example, that means a balloon showing at least R10.10 (our arithmetic).
- Less than 1% up. The help does not say what happens to a round that has grown by less than 1% when the connection goes.
- A malfunction. "All wins and plays become void in case of a malfunction."
Quick fingers do not change the odds 📊
SmartSoft's page calls Balloon "a quick, clean game of timing and risk", and the timing is yours: when to let go. The help is plain about the rest: "The speed or skill of the player does not influence, or increase the chances of winning, or define the outcome of the game." Both ends of the help's RTP range sit below 100%, and no staking pattern or system beats the house edge. A predictor app or signal group that offers to time your release is selling a better chance of winning, and the help says the player's speed or skill does not increase it.
