Congo Cash is a 2021 jungle slot from Pragmatic Play, made in partnership with Wild Streak Gaming in the studio's words, on five reels with 432 ways to win. How Congo Cash works
Congo Cash has five reels and, in the rules' words, 432 ways to win. The rules picture shows four rows on reels one and five and three on reels two to four: 4 x 3 x 3 x 3 x 4 is 432 (our count). Symbols pay left to right on adjacent reels from the leftmost one, and wins on different ways are added.
The pictures are jungle animals: a gorilla, a jaguar, a mandrill, a lemur and a red-eyed frog, then the letters A, K, Q, J and the number 10. A white diamond is the wild. It lands on reels two to five and stands in for every symbol except two special ones: the butterfly, which lands only on reels one and five, and the Congo Cash logo symbol, which lands only on reels two, three and four. Together they collect jewels. The rules describe no ante bet and no bonus buy.
Congo Cash paytable in multiples of the total bet
The first rules page lists pays in cash at the demo's $2.00 bet; each figure here is that amount divided by $2.00 (our arithmetic). Five gorillas pay $20.00 there, which is 10x the bet, or R20 on a R2 spin.

What the paytable adds up to
- The gorilla is the only symbol that pays for two. Two gorillas from reel one pay $1.00 at the $2.00 bet, half the bet (our arithmetic). Every other symbol needs three.
- Way pays are small next to the jewels. The largest entry in the table, five gorillas, is 10x the bet per way; cash jewels run from 5x to 200x.
The jewel board and how a jewel is collected
Above reels two, three and four the game keeps a board of jewels. The rules say the jewels change at every spin, "with new jewels dropping from the top", and each jewel holds one award: a cash value of 5x, 6.25x, 7.5x, 10x, 12x, 15x, 16x, 18x, 20x, 25x, 30x, 40x, 50x, 60x, 75x, 80x, 100x or 200x the total bet; a fixed jackpot; or a number of free games from 8 to 100, which also pays 1x the total bet when collected. On a R2 spin the cash jewels run from R10 to R400 (our arithmetic).
A collect needs two butterflies, one on reel one and one on reel five, and at least one Congo Cash symbol on reels two to four. Each reel that holds a Congo Cash symbol then pays the jewel on top of it; Pragmatic's game page calls it "the first jewel above where the Congo Cash symbol landed". The rules allow up to three jewels on one spin, one for each middle reel by our reading. The wild does not replace a butterfly or a Congo Cash symbol, so a collect always needs both special symbols themselves.
The board is kept per bet. In the rules' words, it "is saved for every possible bet and returning to a certain bet will load the saved jewel board", while "changing the bet after a jewel board has been saved will reset it to default values".
The three jackpots in multiples of the bet and in rand
The rules call the jackpots fixed: 25x the bet for the Minor, 100x for the Major and 2,000x for the Grand. The panel left of the reels shows them in cash, $50.00, $200.00 and $4,000.00 at the demo's $2.00 bet, which matches (our arithmetic).

Free games: a wild on the reel the jewel came from
The free games round starts when at least one free games jewel is collected, and in the rules' words it "starts with the total number of free games collected from all jewels". Two jewels of 10 free games each collected together would start 20 free games (our arithmetic).
On every free spin at least one wild lands on the reel from which the free games jewel was collected. The jewel board stays active during the round, and the rules add that special reels are in play. Free game wins are paid when the round completes.
Pragmatic's 2021 launch post speaks of three scatters starting the free spins; the demo's rules list no scatter, and this page follows the rules.
What Pragmatic publishes about the numbers
Pragmatic's game page and its demo's rules give the same RTP, 96.51%. The intro screen and the third rules page carry a LOW VOLATILITY badge, with Pragmatic's own gloss: low volatility games "pay out more often in smaller amounts, while still having the chance to win big".
The fifth rules page sets a win cap: "The maximum win amount is limited to 2200X bet. If the total win of a round reaches 2200X bet the round immediately ends, win is awarded up to the cap and all remaining features are forfeited." On a R2 spin that is R4,400 (our arithmetic). The Grand alone is 2,000x, so a round that adds 200x more to a Grand reaches the cap (our arithmetic).
Every award in the rules is a fixed multiple of the bet, so a bigger stake changes the rand amounts, not the return, and no staking pattern beats the house edge.
