Monopoly Live in South Africa: 54 Segments, CHANCE Cards and a 3D Board Bonus
Monopoly Live is Evolution's live money wheel with a board game bonus, launched in April 2019 as a special edition of its Dream Catcher wheel. A game host spins a super-sized wheel of 54 segments and you bet on where it stops: 1, 2, 5 or 10, or 2 ROLLS and 4 ROLLS, which send a virtual Mr. Monopoly round a 3D board to collect prizes. Two CHANCE segments bring a cash prize or a multiplier. Evolution's rules give each bet its own RTP, from 91.30% to 96.23%.

How a Monopoly Live round works
A game host spins a super-sized wheel of 54 equal segments: 48 numbered 1, 2, 5 or 10, two marked CHANCE, three 2 ROLLS and one 4 ROLLS. While betting time runs, you put chips on any of six spots: 1, 2, 5, 10, 2 ROLLS and 4 ROLLS. CHANCE has no spot of its own.
A flapper at the top marks the result; if it rests between two segments, Evolution's rules give the round to the one it was passing, in the direction of the spin. A number pays its own odds to one and returns the stake: R10 on the 10 wins R100, plus the R10 back (our sum).

What the two CHANCE segments do
On CHANCE, Mr. Monopoly shows a Chance card with a random cash prize or a random multiplier. For cash, Evolution's page says each player wins the amount on the card, and its rules return your bet on top.
A multiplier card, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 8x or 10x in Evolution's rules, keeps every bet in place for another spin and multiplies its win; a second card multiplies the first. Evolution's example: 100 on the 5 with an 8x card wins 100 x 5 x 8 = 4,000; by our sum, R100 wins R4,000 when the next spin stops on 5.
If that next spin lands on 2 ROLLS or 4 ROLLS, the game page says all the multipliers on the bonus board are multiplied accordingly; only a bet on that segment plays the bonus. By our arithmetic, CHANCE comes up about once in 27 spins.
The 2 ROLLS and 4 ROLLS bonus game 🎁
Only a bet on the ROLLS segment the wheel stops on takes part; other players watch, but by Evolution's rules win nothing.
- The rolls. 2 ROLLS gives at least two rolls of a pair of dice and 4 ROLLS at least four, rolled in the live studio. A double adds a roll, unless it is used to leave jail.
- The board. A virtual 3D Monopoly board with the regular layout, from properties and railways to Chance, Community Chest and GO. Properties, utilities, railways and Free Parking start with basic prizes; houses and hotels built on some properties raise theirs.
- Moving and collecting. Mr. Monopoly walks the total of the two dice, and the cash or multiplier prize where he stops is collected for the players in the bonus.
- Fees and taxes. Chance or Community Chest brings a random cash prize or a fee. Income Tax takes 10% of the bonus winnings and Super Tax 20%; taxes and fees come off only if the winnings allow it.
- Jail and GO. Go to Jail sends him to Jail, and only a double gets him out; winnings already collected stay. Passing GO doubles every prize on the board from then on.
- The end. When the rolls run out, the bonus winnings are paid with the original bet. The board is British by default, with German and Italian versions too.
Which spot costs least, by Evolution's RTP 📊
The percentages are Evolution's; rand amounts and chances are our arithmetic, long-run averages rather than a forecast.
- The 2 is the cheapest. Evolution names 96.23%, the 2's figure, as the optimal RTP: about R3.77 kept per R100 staked. The 2 covers 15 of the 54 segments.
- The 10 is close behind. 96.02%, about R3.98 per R100, on four segments: about one spin in 13.5.
- The 1 and the 5 cost most. 92.88% and 91.30%, about R7.12 and R8.70 per R100. The 1 has the most segments, 22, and still returns less than the 2 or the 10.
- The bonus bets sit in between. 93.90% for 2 ROLLS, on about one spin in 18, and 93.67% for 4 ROLLS, one in 54.
- BET ON ALL. The button puts your chip on all six spots. With equal chips, our average of Evolution's six figures is 94.00%, below the 2 or the 10 alone.
- No system changes the price. Doubling after a loss or waiting for a bonus that seems due moves none of these figures. No staking pattern or system beats the house edge.
Where Monopoly Live came from
Evolution first showed Monopoly Live at ICE 2019 in February and announced its launch on 11 April 2019, made under a sublicense from Scientific Games in partnership with Hasbro. The launch release calls it "an all-new special edition of Evolution's Dream Catcher money wheel"; our Dream Catcher page covers that wheel. On 30 October 2019 Evolution announced the game had been named Game of the Year at the EGR Operator Awards 2019, voted for by shortlisted operators.
Monopoly Big Baller, launched in August 2022 as "a totally new bingo-style live game show", is a different game, and Evolution's site lists MONOPOLY Roll 'em, MONOPOLY Roulette and MONOPOLY slots too: check the name on the tile.

Do I need a bet on 2 ROLLS or 4 ROLLS to win in the bonus game?
Yes. Only a bet on the ROLLS segment the wheel lands on takes part, so a 2 ROLLS bet does not play a 4 ROLLS bonus. Without it you still see the bonus game, but win nothing in it.
What is the biggest win in Monopoly Live?
