Five Star is a Red Tiger fruit slot from 5 October 2016 with five reels, three rows and three play lines. How Five Star plays
Five reels, three rows, three play lines: that is the whole grid, as Red Tiger's game page lists it, with a release date of 5 October 2016. The studio calls it a classic fruit slot with clear win lines, and its own screenshots show the familiar set: cherries, oranges, lemons, plums, grapes, watermelons and flaming sevens, with a gold Five Star logo above the reels.
The game's help is short. It describes two things and nothing else: the Five Star scatter and Repeat Spin. Free spins, a bonus round, wilds and a feature buy are all missing from it, and the figures on Red Tiger's page carry no feature buy-in row either.
Red Tiger gives the stake range only in euro, from 0.10 to 50.00 a spin. In rand each casino sets its own steps: the lobby notes on this page show spins from R0.20 at three of the casinos where we found the game.
The Five Star scatter: what three, four and five pay
By the game's help, three or more Five Star scatters anywhere on the reels give an instant win, and only one can appear on each reel. The multiples are the help's; the rand columns apply them to example stakes, by our arithmetic.
| Five Star scatters | Instant win | On a R1 spin | On a R2 spin |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 | 30x the stake | R30 | R60 |
| 4 | 100x the stake | R100 | R200 |
| 5 | 500x the stake | R500 | R1,000 |
One star per reel, and a figure the two texts give differently
Because a reel can hold only one Five Star, five scatters means one on every reel, and the scatter pays wherever it stands rather than along a line. Red Tiger's help counts the prize in multiples of the current stake, so the same three stars that pay R30 on a R1 spin pay R300 on R10, by our arithmetic.
Red Tiger's game page describes the feature in its own words: three Five Stars for an instant win, four for a bigger one, "and five to claim a huge 300x prize". The help that ships with the game gives 500x for five. This page follows the help, which is the game's own rule text, and names the page's figure so a reader who meets it knows where it comes from. The rules screen at your casino settles which applies.
Repeat Spin: a win that can come back
The second feature is Repeat Spin. The help puts it in one sentence: every win in the game has the chance to be repeated up to 10 times in the same spin. Red Tiger's page words it as line wins that can trigger repeat winning spins, and a title card in the studio's promo video on Evolution's games site reads "Every win has the chance of being multiplied over and over with the Repeat Spin!"
What the help does not give is a chance. It says neither how often a win is repeated nor how the number of repeats is decided, only that ten is the most. So this page puts no figure on how much Repeat Spin adds to a session.
Two RTP figures, a hit rate and a top payout 📊
The return differs by a full point between the two official sites: 95.20% on redtiger.com, 96.20% on games.evolution.com, which Red Tiger's parent group runs. We show the first in the facts panel because it is the studio's own page. Neither site lists RTP versions or says which one a casino in South Africa loads, so the figure on the game's rules screen at your casino is the one to trust. Taken from 100%, the two leave a house edge of 4.80% and 3.80%, by our arithmetic.
The volatility labels point the same way in different words: a HIGH badge from Red Tiger, "Mid / High" from Evolution's site. How such a label sits beside the return is covered in our RTP and volatility guide.
The hit frequency is the figure worth a second look. Red Tiger's description promises "frequent winning spins", while the same page lists a hit frequency of 10.78%: about one paying spin in nine over a long run, by our arithmetic. Of the Red Tiger slots on this site with a published hit frequency, only Grand Wheel prints a lower one (10.40%); 777 Strike, for comparison, prints 22.47%.
Red Tiger's 'Max payout' is 2,000 times the bet: R2,000 on a R1 spin and R4,000 on R2, by our arithmetic. Five scatters, at 500x, are a quarter of that figure. Read 2,000x as the number Red Tiger publishes, not as a target; no staking pattern beats the house edge.
Five Star RTP and volatility
Red Tiger gives Five Star's return to player as 95.20%.
Volatility is high: long quiet stretches between the wins that matter.
Top payout: 2000x.

Five Star FAQ ❓
How does the Five Star symbol pay?
It is a scatter. Three or more anywhere on the reels give an instant win: 30x the stake for three, 100x for four and 500x for five, by the game's help. Only one can land on each reel, so five means one on every reel.
What is Repeat Spin in Five Star?
By the game's help, every win has the chance to be repeated up to 10 times in the same spin. The help gives no chance for a repeat and does not say how the number of repeats is decided, only that ten is the most.
What is the RTP of Five Star?
Red Tiger's game page gives 95.20% and Evolution's games site 96.20%. The studio publishes no list of settings, so check the figure on the game's rules screen at your casino. Either way no staking system changes the house edge.
What is the maximum win in Five Star?
Red Tiger's page lists a 'Max payout' of 2,000 times the bet; the game's help names no win limit. By our arithmetic that is R2,000 on a R1 spin. It is the figure Red Tiger publishes, and no session is promised it.
Is Five Star the same as Five Star Power Reels?
No. Five Star Power Reels (2019) is a separate Red Tiger game with its own page, rules and figures. This review covers the 2016 original with five reels, three rows and three play lines.
