How Hot to Burn Hold and Spin works
Hot to Burn Hold and Spin has five reels, three rows and 20 paylines. The bet menu reads "Betting on 20 lines" and sets the coins per line and the coin value, never the number of lines, so every spin plays all 20. Symbols pay from left to right on adjacent reels, starting from the leftmost reel; only the highest win on each line is paid, and wins on several lines are added together.
The rules multiply line wins by the bet per line, a twentieth of the total bet by our arithmetic, and bonus wins by the total bet. The symbols are a 7, a BAR, a watermelon, a strawberry, a plum, an orange, cherries and an X, which is an ordinary paying symbol, not a blank.
The wild, a tile with WILD written in flames, substitutes for every symbol except the money symbols and the scatter, and wilds can also appear at random positions on any spin. The scatter, a gold star, pays on any position.
Pragmatic's launch post calls the game an upgraded sequel to the original Hot to Burn, with burning wilds that were missing from the original, and says it uses a Hold and Spin feature instead of free spins.

What the paytable means on a R2 spin
Our arithmetic at a R2 total bet, R0.10 on each of the 20 lines.
- Five 7s on a line pay R500. That is 250 times the total bet, the top line pay, for five 7s or five wilds. Four pay R100 and three R10.
- Two cherries return one line's stake. They pay R0.10, a twentieth of the spin, so a spin paid only that still costs R1.90. Cherries are the only symbol that pays for two.
- Three low symbols pay a tenth of the bet. Three oranges, X symbols or cherries pay R0.20; three watermelons, strawberries or plums pay R2, the whole stake.
Hold and Spin: five money symbols, four respins
The money symbols are the burning suns and diamonds of Pragmatic's launch post; the rules picture a diamond and two suns. They can appear on all reels and take a random value on every spin from a predefined set, which the rules do not list. The wild does not substitute for them, so only money symbols count towards the five.
Five or more on one spin trigger the feature once that spin's line wins are paid. The normal symbols fade away, only the money symbols that triggered it stay, and the reels are replaced with special reels holding only money symbols and empty spaces.
You start with four respins. Every money symbol that lands stays until the round ends, and each respin on which at least one lands resets the count to four. The round ends when the respins run out or all 15 positions, by our count, are filled; the values of all money symbols are then added up and paid.
A bullet point on Pragmatic's game page says a new money symbol resets the count to three; the rules in the game say four, and this page follows the rules. The paytable gives money symbols no pay of their own, so by our reading their values are paid only at the end of this round, and four or fewer on a normal spin pay nothing.
The Big Money Wheel and the 20,000x cap
If Hold and Spin fills the whole screen with money symbols, the Big Money Wheel bonus starts. The wheel awards a random prize or a blank, and the rules list 21 prizes, by our count: 10x to 100x the bet in steps of 10x, 200x to 1,000x in steps of 100x, then 2,000x and 5,000x.
Each prize spins the wheel again, and a blank ends it; Pragmatic's game page adds that it also ends when the maximum win is reached. Then everything won in the Hold and Spin round and on the wheel is added together and paid. The rules give no odds for filling the screen or for landing a blank.
The rules cap a win at 20,000 times the bet: a round that reaches it ends at once, the win is paid up to the cap and any features left are forfeited. By our arithmetic that is R40,000 on a R2 spin.
The rules screen labels the game medium volatility: such games "pay out steadily and the range of pays varies from low to very high". Pragmatic's 2021 launch post called it "highly volatile"; this page follows today's rules screen. No staking pattern beats the house edge.
