Fruit Shop in South Africa: Line Wins That Award Free Spins
Fruit Shop is NetEnt's fruit-machine slot from November 2011: five reels, three rows and 15 fixed lines that pay from left to right, with no bonus buy. Its free spins come straight from ordinary line wins. In the main game, every winning line of matching fruit awards one to five of them, and inside the round every line win pays double and adds more. The wild lands only on the three middle reels and doubles any line win it is part of. NetEnt's page puts the hit frequency at 27%.

How Fruit Shop works
The grid is five reels by three rows with 15 paylines. The lines are fixed, so every spin plays all 15, and a line pays when matching symbols run from the leftmost reel to the right without a gap. Wins on different lines are added together, and each line pays only its highest win, at the value the paytable shows for your stake.
Besides the wild, the reels carry five fruits (cherries, a watermelon, an orange, a plum and a lemon) and the card ranks A, K, Q, J and 10. The wild is the Fruit Shop logo on a yellow background. In the game's own free spins tables, cherries count from two in a row and every other symbol from three.
NetEnt's game page lists two features, Free Spins and Wilds, and both work through line wins.
The wild: middle reels only, one x2 per line
The wild lands only on reels 2, 3 and 4, in the main game and in free spins, and it stands in for every symbol. Any line win with at least one wild in it is multiplied by 2. The rules apply only one wild multiplier per line win, so a line holding two or three wilds is still doubled once.
The placement shapes how lines form. Reels 1 and 5 never show a wild, so every line win begins with a real symbol on the leftmost reel, and that symbol decides what the line pays; five of a kind also needs the symbol itself on reel 5. The wild can only bridge the reels in between.
Free spins awarded per line win 🎁
From the two tables in the game's own help. The numbers are the same in the main game, where only fruit wins award spins, and during free spins, where every line win adds them, card ranks included.
Swipe the table sideways to see every column.
| Line win of | Two | Three | Four | Five |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cherries | 1 | 1 | 2 | 5 |
| Watermelon, orange, plum or lemon | - | 1 | 2 | 5 |
| A, K, Q, J or 10, in free spins only | - | 1 | 2 | 5 |
Free spins: every win keeps the round going 🎁
In the main game, a line of matching fruit pays its win and also awards free spins by the table above. The rule works line by line: every fruit line win awards its own spins. Card-rank wins pay, but award no spins in the main game.
Inside the round, every line win is multiplied by 2, and a line win with a wild in it by 4: the rules multiply the wild's x2 by the free spins x2. Every line win also adds spins to the counter, fruit or card rank alike, and the round ends only when the counter reaches zero and the last spin brings no new win.
In rand, by our arithmetic: a line the paytable values at R1 at your stake pays R2 with a wild on it in the main game, R2 in free spins, and R4 in free spins with a wild. A round started by one line of three fruits is a single free spin, and it carries on only if that spin lands a line win.

How the numbers shape a session
NetEnt puts the hit frequency at 27%, a little more than one spin in four by our arithmetic. Its game page labels the volatility medium, the same badge it shows for Starburst and Gonzo's Quest; Evolution's games site files Fruit Shop under Low / Mid, below Gonzo's Quest at Mid.
A free spins round can start from a single fruit line, and its length then depends on the line wins inside it: each adds one, two or five spins, by the table above.
The stake is the one choice you make, and it does not change the odds: all 15 lines are always in play, and the paytable scales with the stake, so a bigger one makes every result bigger in rand, wins and losses alike. No staking pattern beats the house edge. Choose the stake for how long you want the budget to last, not for the next spin.
The 2011 original
NetEnt's own site lists Fruit Shop Megaways and a Christmas edition as separate games, each on its own page. This page covers the 2011 original only, and the operators listed on this page are the ones where we have found it. If a lobby tile carries a longer name, the game's information screen tells you which one you have open.
Fruit Shop RTP and volatility 📊
NetEnt gives Fruit Shop's return to player as 96.71%.

Pros, cons and verdict ⚖️
- Free spins come from ordinary fruit line wins, from two cherries up
- Every line win inside the round adds spins, card ranks included
- Wild line wins pay x2, and x4 inside free spins
- NetEnt states a 27% hit frequency; neither official label goes above medium volatility
- No bonus buy, and no feature beyond wilds and free spins
- One x2 per line, however many wilds the line holds
- A round started by one three-fruit line can be a single spin
- Other Fruit Shop games share the name, so check the tile
Fruit Shop turns ordinary wins into its feature: a fruit line in the main game awards free spins, and inside the round every line win pays double and adds more spins, four times the line value when a wild is in it. The rules fit in a few lines, which suits a player who wants a plain fruit slot; anyone looking for a bonus buy or a growing multiplier will not find one here.
Fruit Shop FAQ ❓
How do you trigger free spins in Fruit Shop?
With a line win of matching fruit in the main game. The game's table gives 1 free spin for two or three cherries, 2 for four and 5 for five; the watermelon, orange, plum and lemon give 1, 2 or 5 for three, four or five in a row. Card-rank wins give none in the main game.
Can free spins be retriggered?
Yes, by any line win. During free spins every line win adds spins by the same table, card ranks included, and the round ends only when the counter reaches zero and the last spin brings no new win.
What does the wild do in Fruit Shop?
It lands on reels 2, 3 and 4 only and substitutes for every symbol. A line win with at least one wild is multiplied by 2, once, however many wilds the line holds. In free spins that x2 is multiplied by the round's x2, so the line pays x4.
How often does Fruit Shop pay?
NetEnt states a hit frequency of 27%, so over the long run a little more than one spin in four returns something, by our arithmetic. The figure counts winning spins, not their size, and says nothing about whether a session ends up or down.
Is there a bonus buy in Fruit Shop?
No. NetEnt's game page lists two features, Free Spins and Wilds, and no feature buy. The free spins round comes from fruit line wins in the main game, as the table on this page shows.
