Big Money Wheel in South Africa: Coins, Re-Spins and a Wheel at the End

NetEnt RTP 96.07% 4.8 /5

Big Money Wheel is a NetEnt video slot released on 4 June 2024, despite a name that sounds like a live game show. It has six reels and 1024 ways to win. Coins carry multipliers and can start re-spins, and a large scatter on the first two reels opens free spins on a 4x6 grid. When those end, the wheel spins once and puts its multiplier on every Mystery symbol left on the reels.

4.8/5. Computed from what we could verify about Big Money Wheel, not from our own play.

Six reels, two sizes and 1024 ways

Evolution's help file for the game says reels 1 and 2 are two rows high and reels 3 to 6 are four rows high. NetEnt lists the grid as 6x4 and the ways as 1024; by our arithmetic 2 x 2 x 4 x 4 x 4 x 4 = 1,024, which is where that number comes from.

A way pays when matching symbols land on three or more adjacent reels from the leftmost, without gaps, and extra copies multiply the ways. The help's example: shoes on reels 1 to 5, one, one, two, three and one of them, make 1 x 1 x 2 x 3 x 1 = 6 winning ways. Only the longest combination per symbol is paid.

In the main game, NetEnt says Wilds can appear on reels 3, 4, 5 and 6, and they stand in for every symbol except the Scatter and the Coin.

Coins, Colossal Coins and the re-spins

Coins carry random multipliers. NetEnt's page says x1, x2, x5, x10 and x25 can appear anywhere on the reels, and x50 and x100 can appear on reels 1 and 2. Colossal Coins take a 2x2 block and can only land on reels 1 and 2, which are exactly two rows high.

In the main game, a Colossal Coin that lands together with at least one other Coin starts a re-spin. The colossal symbol and all Coins stay where they are. Each re-spin that brings at least one new Coin earns another; a re-spin with no new Coin ends the feature, and so does a play area filled with Coins.

How the re-spin win is counted is not on NetEnt's page, and the help file gives it only in shared lines that also serve other games, in two versions that disagree. The paytable and help inside the game at your casino settle it.

Free spins, step by step 🎁

From NetEnt's Free Spins text and Evolution's help file for the game.

  1. The trigger
A Colossal Big Money Wheel Scatter on reels 1 and 2 starts free spins. The help says the Scatter cannot appear anywhere else.
  2. A new play area
Free spins are played on a 4x6 area, where every position spins on its own and only Coins (x1 to x100) and Mystery symbols can land.
  3. Three spins that keep coming back
The counter starts at 3. Every Coin or Mystery symbol that lands resets it to 3, and every symbol stays on the reels until the end.
  4. The end of the round
Free spins end when the counter reaches 0 or the area is full of Coins and Mystery symbols. The win is the bet times the sum of what the Coins and Mystery symbols show.
  5. The wheel
If at least one Mystery symbol is on the reels when the counter hits 0, the Big Money Wheel spins once, and its result goes to every Mystery symbol before the win is counted.

What the Big Money Wheel can land on

From NetEnt's page and the help. Neither publishes how likely each outcome is.

OutcomeWhat it does
Multiplier x5, x10, x25, x50, x100, x250, x500 or x1,000 on every Mystery symbol
Double A second spin with only multipliers on it; the multiplier won is doubled
Triple A second spin with only multipliers on it; the multiplier won is tripled

Why the Mystery symbols matter

The wheel changes only the Mystery symbols: three of them take the same result three times over, and a round with none skips the wheel.

By our arithmetic, the largest single result is a Triple followed by x1,000: x3,000 on each Mystery symbol, our sum, not a figure NetEnt prints. NetEnt's own figure for the game is a max payout of 12,000 times the bet, which its page does not call a cap.

The two Buy Feature options

NetEnt lists both. The help also has an opening line for the game without the Buy Feature, so the version at your casino may not offer it. Rand costs are our sums at a R2 bet.

OptionCostAt a R2 bet
Free spins starting with 1 Mystery symbol 90 times the bet R180
Free spins starting with 3 Mystery symbols 150 times the bet R300

Reading the numbers before you spin

Out of 100 spins, NetEnt's 22% means about 22 return something, by our arithmetic. Much of the game's value sits in the free spins round and the wheel, which a hit rate does not describe.

NetEnt's badge says MEDIUM and Evolution's games site says High for the same game, so we give both rather than pick one.

A bought round costs 90 or 150 bets in one go, the price of that many spins. Fix the session's budget before the first spin, and treat a buy as part of it; no buying habit changes the house edge.

Big Money Wheel RTP and volatility 📊

NetEnt gives Big Money Wheel's return to player as 96.07%.

Pros, cons and verdict ⚖️

Pros
  • Coins keep the re-spins going one landing at a time
  • Every Coin or Mystery symbol resets the free spins counter to 3
  • One wheel result applies to every Mystery symbol on the reels
  • Two Buy Feature options that start with Mystery symbols
Cons
  • Neither NetEnt nor the help publishes the wheel's odds
  • A round without a Mystery symbol never reaches the wheel
  • NetEnt's pages publish no paytable for the ordinary symbols
  • Medium on NetEnt's badge but High on Evolution's site

Big Money Wheel is a slot first: 1024 ways, Coins that drive re-spins, and a free spins grid that fills up with Coins and Mystery symbols. The wheel is the last step of that round and decides what the Mystery symbols are worth. It suits a player who likes watching a grid fill and accepts a wheel whose odds nobody prints.

Big Money Wheel FAQ ❓

Is Big Money Wheel a live game show?

No. It is a NetEnt video slot from 2024 with six reels and 1024 ways. The wheel is a feature at the end of free spins, not a studio wheel with a host. Some lobbies list it under Evolution, the group NetEnt belongs to.

How do you trigger free spins in Big Money Wheel?

A Colossal Big Money Wheel Scatter on reels 1 and 2 starts them. Free spins run on a 4x6 area with a counter of 3, and any Coin or Mystery symbol that lands resets the counter to 3.

When does the Big Money Wheel spin?

Once, when the free spins counter hits 0 and at least one Mystery symbol is on the reels. It awards a multiplier from x5 to x1,000, or a Double or Triple that spins again with multipliers only.

What is the RTP of Big Money Wheel?

96.07% on both NetEnt's game page and Evolution's games site. The Return to Player line in the help inside the game is the one that applies at your casino, so open it once before a real-money session.

How much does the Buy Feature cost?

NetEnt lists 90 times the bet for free spins that start with one Mystery symbol and 150 times the bet for three. At a R2 bet that is R180 or R300 by our sums, where your casino's version offers it.
